The past week has not been great for my garden. Though we have eaten squash every way you can think of, the squash plants have been under attack. Bugs and worms devouring the stems and roots. The plants have given their best, but I had to give in to radical response by pulling up the majority of my plants. I kept the strongest of the lot, and intend on giving them the utmost attention time will allow.
Gardening is time consuming and often discouraging with drought, fungus and bugs. However, I have greatly enjoyed the experience and gained much more than I've lost. It has lured me to the outside rather than spending time surfing the channels on the TV. I feel stronger and have greatly enjoyed the vegetables. We still enjoy cucumbers, eggplant, pole beans, tomatoes and more. Hoping for success with our first time planting of watermelon and canteloupe.

Update My On Our Garden
Well it as been a few weeks since my last post. I have
been very busy watering, weeding, trimming shrubs, and the other task necessary to have a garden and yard one can be proud of. I am posting a few new picture
s here and you can find many more by clicking on my slideshow. I am enjoying the work so much. It is so rewarding to harvest and eat vegetables you grow. The picture to the right is the same pole bean patch in the previous post. Some change! We will be enjoying pole beans within a week, though I do enjoy a raw one, occasionally, as I walk around my yard checking out our endeavors.

Keep It Fun
We planted corn this afternoon. May 5, 2008. Also, cantaloupe plants. I look forward to getting up every morning and going out, before I go to work, to water and see the changes that have taken place over night. I believe God loves the morning. It is when I feel the most connected to Him.

Backyard Endeavors
The year is 2008. It's spring and time to give gardening another try. We started in March and at this point we have replanted much of our garden space. Cold temperatures have prevented many of the seeds from germinating. This blog will be a collection of backyard endeavors.
- A vegetable garden
- Ponds complete with catfish, koi, and frogs
- Flowers
- Trees
- New flower beds
- A host of backyard projects
